[The feeling of grass beneath her was a bit startling, and she shot up into a seated position; had she been attacked on the way to Bau by archers? Did some some of illness overtake her while she was traveling? Once her head cleared enough for her to think properly, however, she realized that she was thankfully unharmed -- save for the dull ache between her large wings, which she then proceeded to spend several moments examining -- and then rambling over, as she talks to herself about the complete impossibility of having a feathered set of wings on her person that are entirely too small to be of use...]

[... After she spends some time mulling over the illogical details in her head, she finally rises and takes a step forward -- her toes nudge the journal, which leads to her bending over and picking it up carefully. Her fingers trace over its surface for a moment before she speaks.]

This is a weird turn of events, indeed...

[Tucking the small book beneath her arm, she begins to walk on ahead.]

[After a long while of walking, the residents of the town can see a dark-haired woman with two large appendages tucked behind her back. Her darkened eyes are looking straight ahead, though her ears seem to be twitching and moving, ever so faintly, as though trying to pinpoint noises.]

[Luceti, meet Anodrac. Clearly, she's unfamiliar with her surroundings, and a little bit nervous, to boot. Anyone want to be the one to welcome her?]

[ He watches her pacing in front of her as he nods. ] An offer? Well that's certainly kind of you. But only if you wish to. [ Just tapping a finger to his chin, thinking. ]

I'll tell you as much as I can. It's only fair after all. Being in such a strange place is rather disconcerting, especially not knowing much about it.

I would not have offered if I were not willing to share what I know.

[She smiles.]

Then, let us begin. How did I arrive here in Luceti? Did some sort of magical force tear me from my own world?

folklorist: (I'm just your average headmaster yep)
From: [personal profile] folklorist
Very kind of you, then. [ Helios will smile as well. ]

Mm. Magic, not necessarily magic. It's sort of like a machine that does it. They call it shifting. Apparently it's able to draw a person from their own world to this one at different periods of time. But time back in your world doesn't change. It's all very fascinating actually. Except when it...comes to the experiments.

Shifting... hm. What a peculiar word. [She repeats it a few times under her breath. She must really find it fascinating.]

[The next part of his explanation maker her ears perk up.]

So when I do eventually return home, it will be as though I were never gone? How interesting, indeed...

[...and then her face shifts into a concerned expression.] Experiments? So, there are people like her in this world...

[She'll be willing to provide an explanation of the whole "her" thing in a moment. For now, however, more questions.]

So Luceti must be much more advanced than my own world, in terms of available resources, yes?

folklorist: (Peaceful: You wanted to talk?)
From: [personal profile] folklorist
Yes that's correct. Like you never even left, almost as if time stops! But the odd thing is, is that people from your world can be taken from a later or earlier period in time than you. Knowing more or less than you. It...can make things complicated really. [ Not like anything in Luceti is simple. The her statement does make him swing a glance back at Anodrac but he won't go into that. Only, of course, if she does so first. ]

Ah, yes, I suppose you could think of it that way. All the resources in the shops and such are free. So don't feel wrong or awkward taking what you need!

So the shifting process isn't affected by time at all? My, how peculiar. Such things aren't possible in my world...

[The part about everything being free makes her raise an eyebrow in disbelief.] Everything? Then, there is no currency at all, either? There must not be much of an economy here...

folklorist: (Do go on I'm listening)
From: [personal profile] folklorist
It's possibly due to the fact that it's outside our respective worlds and it's simply taking persons out of said time frames. But there's a lot we don't know about it.

Nope! None whatsoever! It's rather amazing actually. The food is restocked by the people who brought us here, the Malnosso. [ Saying that with a tinge of resentment. He's not really on good terms with them after the last experiment. ]

Date: 2011-05-19 02:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Hm, I see. I suppose I'll learn more about it whenever the opportunity arises.

[She picks up on the resentment, though says nothing as brings a hand to her chin.] The Malnosso. So, the ones that brought me here have a name...

[She's lost in thought for a moment. Then, after several seconds of silence, she speaks again.]

...so, these experiments. How severe are they? And how often do they occur?

Date: 2011-05-20 03:37 pm (UTC)
folklorist: (Pacing)
From: [personal profile] folklorist
Y-Yes they're a group of scientists and people actually. The scientists aren't exactly making a good name for themselves or their people though.

[ Helios will start pacing again in that interim of silence, as short as it may be. ]

Some of them can be minor. Like a simple changing into an animal or-or changing of gender. Others...can be rather severe- [ horrible. ] -the last one made us forget who we were entirely and have a separate life as if we lived on this plant. [ Not a good time, well, at least not the end of it. ]

As for when they occur it's all random. I don't think anyone can truly say for certain when they'll occur. But they sometimes only last for about, I want to say...a week!

From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
[She's not going to touch on the subject of that last experiment, as it seems that poor Helios has a rather unpleasant memory of the event. Instead, she'll press on ahead with her questions.]

...a week. So, ten days then?

[No one's told her that time is different here, so pardon her mistake.]

As long as there is no permanent damage...Then I believe they will not be much of a nuisance.

fff sorry for the super late tag /fails

A week...ten days? No it's...seven days. Ah, well, I suppose it depends on the world, hm? Your weeks consisted of ten days did it?

[ Interesting. He hasn't heard of discrepancies with that before. Though he's sure there's probably some out there, along with differing names of the week. ]

N-No no permanent damage...we-well for the most part. It just, takes awhile sometimes to get over the effects.
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
A-Ah... yes, they did.

[A week here is seven days? What's the point behind that? Well, now Anodrac's a tiny bit flustered.]

That will take some... getting used to. [Faint understatement.] ...Am I correct in assuming the days here aren't 48 hours long?

[She nods faintly.] Well then, that relieves me... somewhat.

[She brings a hand to her lips, as though wondering what else she could ask. After a few minutes of silence, she shakes her head.]

There's nothing else I can really think of asking at the moment. ...did you want to ask your questions now?
