[In the past couple of days, Anodrac has taken the time to finally reclaim her original clothing (consisting of a long purple dress with white trim and a beige cotton sash of sorts) and get herself moved into the Seventh Floor of Community Building 3. Of course, her new abode is bare outside of the basic furnishings, but that's not an issue to her.]

[What IS an issue, however, is the fact that there's a heat wave outside. And we all know that heat rises... so her humble home, Room 34, is unbearably hot to her. As a result, every possible entryway into her room is thrown open in an attempt to get a decent breeze.]

[In spite of her efforts, however, things don't seem to be quite as cool as Anodrac would like; so, those paying verrrryyyyyy close attention to their journals can hear some quiet, not-very-pleased murmuring coming from her feed.]

This heat is almost unbearable... Dear Sirym, what I wouldn't give to be on a mountaintop right about now...

[For those that live in Building 3, feel free to wonder why she's got her door wide open/stop on by/offer the poor woman some sort of relief. For anyone not in the area... well, you can still offer tips on how to keep cool.]

[Ingrid is in the opposite state. McCoy has left to the draft, and Robert hasn't come in yet to maintain her bubble, so the air conditioning has been blasting all day and she's freezing.]

I'll trade you. I think someone left the cool air on in here.

I'd very much enjoy that, but I wouldn't want to subject you to this... this torture. [Slight melodramatic tones aside, she's not fond of warm weather at all.] Though I suppose I should be grateful that heat is the only thing I'm having an issue with at the moment.

Heat is nice problem to have.

[A little wistfully:] Is it... very warm out there?

Date: 2011-06-09 02:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
...well, if the heat in this room is any indication, it's... more than a little mild, to say the least.

You... can't feel heat?

[Pardon her for sounding a little taken aback at that.]

[Pardon freely given, since that wasn't quite what Ingrid meant.]

Well, I can feel heat, but I'm stuck inside right now.

Is an injury of some sort preventing you from moving without pain?

[She doesn't know who else fought in the draft, but if the situation fits...]

...Sort of.

[She doesn't like admitting the truth.]

[Don't worry, Anodrac's not gonna push the issue much farther than that.]

Ah. In that case, I do hope you'll get better soon.

[There's a little bit of silence before she speaks again.] And that whoever is in charge of where you're resting will warm things up around there.

[Ingrid smiles at the girl's sincerity. There's pretty much no chance of recovering from an immune deficiency, and the person in charge of where she's resting is off at the draft.]

There should be someone coming in soon to help out with the heat.

Well, that's good, at least. ...if you'd like, I could bring you something, when your caretaker returns?

I'd like that.

[Visitors are nice.]

What's your name?

Oh... How rude of me... My name is Anodrac. And yours is...?

From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
Ingrid. Ingrid Grimmholtz.

Where are you from? [An entirely different question here in Luceti than it would be back home.]

Date: 2011-06-11 05:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
I am from a planet called Selles. [This is only the second time someone's asked about it. That makes her happy.] My home country is called Teroda.

What about you?

Date: 2011-06-12 04:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
You're from another planet? [Oh, Ingrid is perking right up.] That's amazing! So far I've only met people from different versions of Earth. Ah- that's where I'm from, in a country called America. Tell me about your planet. What's it like? [She wants to know everything.]

Date: 2011-06-12 04:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Earth. And... America. Hm... [Give her a moment to process this. After all, a few weeks prior she was still hilariously unaware of other planets.]

You... you want to know about Selles? [She hasn't had anyone ask her ANYTHING about her homeland, so she's eager to explain.] Ah... Is there anything in particular you want to ask about? Or shall I just start with whatever comes to mind first?

Date: 2011-06-12 04:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
Tell me everything!

[Really. Her father never trained her out of the incessant 'whys' of five year old children. She is curious about everything and happy to learn.]

Date: 2011-06-12 04:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Everything? ... Miss Ingrid, you and I are going to get along quite well.

[She laughs softly.]

I suppose I should start with the basics, then. As I've mentioned, my world is called Selles. Our days are 48 hours long, and our weeks are ten days. [There's a short pause.] Unfortunately, I haven't figured out exactly what that translates to in this world yet.

I should continue, before I get distracted... Our years are 440 days long, split into 8 months of 55 days.

[She'll wait until Ingrid's ready to hear more. She doesn't want information overload, after all.]

Date: 2011-06-13 12:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
That must make keeping time here very difficult...

[She's totally writing this down.]

And your sleeping habits must be terribly mixed up here.

Date: 2011-06-13 12:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Indeed. There's such a weird calendar here, and the days are so much shorter...

[She laughs.] And, if my thinking is right, it also means that I am a lot older in this land than I am at home.

Date: 2011-06-13 01:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
How old are you then? In- in your reckoning.

Date: 2011-06-13 01:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
I am just shy of thirty. In my people's terms, that is still very young.
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
Then that makes you...

144?

I think I must have done my math wrong. And that's assuming the hours are the same.
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
That doesn't sound... quite right. Our hours are shorter than the hours here, but we have more of them in our day...

[Ingrid can hear Anodrac murmuring calculations of some sort under her breath. After a moment of hushed whispering, she speaks up again.]

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say I am about 52 in... whatever measurement of time we use here in Luceti. Though I'd need some more concrete figures to be completely sure.
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
I didn't think that was right. I must have dropped a number somewhere.

Still, 52? And you're young for your people? How old do they generally live to be?
Edited Date: 2011-06-13 03:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Well, you put more effort into it than most would have.

[She's silent for a moment, trying to run more numbers through her head.] The average livespan of my people, on Selles, is usually about 90. In this world, that would equal... a little less than 163 years.

[She laughs amusedly.] I'm sure it must be awfully confusing.

Date: 2011-06-13 04:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
It seems as though it'd be more confusing for you.

What else can you tell me about your world?

Date: 2011-06-13 05:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Well... [Her voice takes on a soft, almost-mourning tone.] A lot of the nations are recovering from a very horrible war. My homeland wasn't involved, but... a lot of our allies suffered terrible losses.

Date: 2011-06-13 04:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
I'm sorry to hear that. My father was in one of the last great wars on my planet.

Date: 2011-06-13 04:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
...My condolences. It is never pleasant when one's own family needs to get involved with the horrors of war.

Date: 2011-06-13 05:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
Thank you.

It was a long time ago, though.

What sort of flora and fauna are present on your world? Is it very different from the ones here?

Date: 2011-06-14 02:34 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
From what I've seen, my world has a lot of unique creatures. But some of the more basic creatures here, like insects, are very much like the ones we have at home.

The most striking difference, I'd have to say, would be how... uniform the people in this world seem. On Selles, each of the bipedal races have at least one trait unique to them, but here... everyone seems to be the same, and the only differences are what skills they have.

It's a little jarring, really.

Date: 2011-06-14 03:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
More than one bipedal race? I was beginning to think I was the only one! I mean, on my world they're more like subspecies, but I've met people here form versions of Earth that only have humans. It does seem rather... uniform, doesn't it.

What are the races on your world like?

Date: 2011-06-15 05:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Indeed it does. I'm still getting used to it.

Well... to describe all of them in detail would be quite the task.
[She laughs.] But I could describe a few of them now.

Two of the most 'human-like' races on Selles are the Lunians and the Ecliptians. Their abilities, however, are as inhuman as one could expect.

[She pauses for a moment.] Ecliptians, for example, are capable of near-monumental feats because of how they're able to utilize their life-force.

Date: 2011-06-15 07:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
"Utilize their life force?" What does that mean? [Sounds supernatural.]

Date: 2011-06-16 07:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Ah, well... [She thinks for a moment, as though trying to find the proper words.] Imagine... imagine that you, or I, or any other creature, is like...

Give me a moment. It would be better if I used visual cues for this.

[There's the clinking of plates and the shuffling of the journal, before the video feed comes on. Ingrid can see Anodrac -- or rather, her hands -- and a tall glass filled with fruit juice. There's also a second container, barely visible on the screen.]

This cup here-- [She taps the glass lightly with one finger] --represents an Ecliptian, all right? And the juice inside the cup is their life energy.

When an Ecliptian uses their ability, they give up some of their life energy in the process.
[She tips the glass out, pouring a bit of juice into the other container.] The more energy they are willing to expend, the greater the result will be.

However, when they use the last of their energy...
[She demonstrates this by pouring out the contents of the glass.] Then they will die, because there is nothing left to support their bodies.

[The video feed cuts off there, and the sound of most of her props being put away filters over. However, there is a soft sipping sound before she speaks again.]

I'm sure there is more to it than that, but I can only speak of what I know.

Date: 2011-06-17 04:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
[Definitely supernatural.]

What sort of things can they do with their life energy?
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Anything they can think of, I imagine. The only Ecliptian I knew was capable of raising a city from the earth single-handed...

no worries!

Date: 2011-07-10 09:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] intangible-girl.livejournal.com
Goodness! You're not exaggerating are you? [You don't seem like you are, but...]

Date: 2011-07-12 04:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
I'm not, though I can see where one could think so.

...The aforementioned Ecliptian was unconscious for weeks after that, however.
