[In the past couple of days, Anodrac has taken the time to finally reclaim her original clothing (consisting of a long purple dress with white trim and a beige cotton sash of sorts) and get herself moved into the Seventh Floor of Community Building 3. Of course, her new abode is bare outside of the basic furnishings, but that's not an issue to her.]

[What IS an issue, however, is the fact that there's a heat wave outside. And we all know that heat rises... so her humble home, Room 34, is unbearably hot to her. As a result, every possible entryway into her room is thrown open in an attempt to get a decent breeze.]

[In spite of her efforts, however, things don't seem to be quite as cool as Anodrac would like; so, those paying verrrryyyyyy close attention to their journals can hear some quiet, not-very-pleased murmuring coming from her feed.]

This heat is almost unbearable... Dear Sirym, what I wouldn't give to be on a mountaintop right about now...

[For those that live in Building 3, feel free to wonder why she's got her door wide open/stop on by/offer the poor woman some sort of relief. For anyone not in the area... well, you can still offer tips on how to keep cool.]

From what I've seen, my world has a lot of unique creatures. But some of the more basic creatures here, like insects, are very much like the ones we have at home.

The most striking difference, I'd have to say, would be how... uniform the people in this world seem. On Selles, each of the bipedal races have at least one trait unique to them, but here... everyone seems to be the same, and the only differences are what skills they have.

It's a little jarring, really.

More than one bipedal race? I was beginning to think I was the only one! I mean, on my world they're more like subspecies, but I've met people here form versions of Earth that only have humans. It does seem rather... uniform, doesn't it.

What are the races on your world like?

Indeed it does. I'm still getting used to it.

Well... to describe all of them in detail would be quite the task.
[She laughs.] But I could describe a few of them now.

Two of the most 'human-like' races on Selles are the Lunians and the Ecliptians. Their abilities, however, are as inhuman as one could expect.

[She pauses for a moment.] Ecliptians, for example, are capable of near-monumental feats because of how they're able to utilize their life-force.

"Utilize their life force?" What does that mean? [Sounds supernatural.]

Ah, well... [She thinks for a moment, as though trying to find the proper words.] Imagine... imagine that you, or I, or any other creature, is like...

Give me a moment. It would be better if I used visual cues for this.

[There's the clinking of plates and the shuffling of the journal, before the video feed comes on. Ingrid can see Anodrac -- or rather, her hands -- and a tall glass filled with fruit juice. There's also a second container, barely visible on the screen.]

This cup here-- [She taps the glass lightly with one finger] --represents an Ecliptian, all right? And the juice inside the cup is their life energy.

When an Ecliptian uses their ability, they give up some of their life energy in the process.
[She tips the glass out, pouring a bit of juice into the other container.] The more energy they are willing to expend, the greater the result will be.

However, when they use the last of their energy...
[She demonstrates this by pouring out the contents of the glass.] Then they will die, because there is nothing left to support their bodies.

[The video feed cuts off there, and the sound of most of her props being put away filters over. However, there is a soft sipping sound before she speaks again.]

I'm sure there is more to it than that, but I can only speak of what I know.

[Definitely supernatural.]

What sort of things can they do with their life energy?
From: [identity profile] anodracthedark.livejournal.com
Anything they can think of, I imagine. The only Ecliptian I knew was capable of raising a city from the earth single-handed...

no worries!

Goodness! You're not exaggerating are you? [You don't seem like you are, but...]

I'm not, though I can see where one could think so.

...The aforementioned Ecliptian was unconscious for weeks after that, however.
